Kikukumbi Youth Rural Development Initiative

Kikukumbi Youth Rural Development Initiative abbreviated as KIYODA, is a Community Based Grass root Organization (CBO) that was formed in Kikukumbi Village, Kalungu Sub County in Kalungu District in South Western Part of Uganda.

The CBO is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious which was initiated in 2004 to address the plight of Orphans and Vulnerable Children, youth and women who are disadvantaged group. The group is registered with Masaka NGO forum and Masaka district local government.

We have twenty-five registered members, which are males and females within the local area.

We believe that if this age group is engage within their communities today, we can produce next generation of leaders.  

We are dedicated to enhancing the well being of youth, children, women and families whose lives have been devastated by poverty and HIV/AIDS.

To improve the living standard for the disadvantaged Children, Youth, Elderly, Women and entire community

MISSION 

To enable rural youth, women and children whose lives have been tragically impacted by poverty and HIV/AIDS to become self-reliant and productive.

The following are the aims and objectives of KIYODA.

• Create opportunities for vulnerable children, youth, women and elderly from marginalized and under served communities. 

• To empower the disadvantaged rural youth, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) with life skills to avoid unwanted pregnancy, early marriage and sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS.

• To support and improve on the status of the poor youth and young people who are affected and infected by HIV/AIDS to participate within their communities.

• To creating awareness on issues affecting youth and young people that are concerns to the public.

KIYODA

• To empower youth and young people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS to participate in income generating activities (IGAs) and loan saving schemes.

• To educate and support personal development among youth, orphans, widows, old people, people with disability, and people living with HIV/AIDS.

• To provide direct support to orphans, older people and people with disability with basic necessities such as school fees, scholastic materials, basic needs and other personal effects.

• To promote better sanitation

• To promote gender issues and women development

Kikukumbi Youth Rural Development Initiative is working with rural communities and local authorities across the district. We believe health outcomes can be improved through parallel development of communities and the health system to respond to and prevent disease and illness.
